Chief Executive Officer / President
Michael K. Vaden
Michael K. Vaden, Chief Executive Officer and President of Gryphon Group Security Solutions has over 25 years of special operations, personal security, and advanced special operations tactics experience. He served in the United States Marine Corps and with the United States Army Special Forces. Mr. Vaden has worldwide operational experience and has taught advanced marksmanship skills and unconventional warfare methods in both services. He taught at the U.S. Marines Corps Scout/Sniper School at Camp Lejuene and at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center at Fort Bragg. Mr. Vaden has written on foreign policy and national security issues for Congress and senior-level policymakers. He has a Masters Degree in U.S. Foreign Policy from the American University's School of International Service. For over five years, Mr. Vaden was a Program Associate with the Smithsonian Institution's prestigious national security think-tank, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington DC. There he worked on nontraditional national security threats, nonproliferation issues, and national intelligence policy. Mr. Vaden is a Registered Private Investigator in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a licensed Personal Protection Specialist. He is also a Registered Private Investigator in the State of Florida.

Executive Vice President
J. Brian Skelly
J. Brian Skelly is the Executive Vice President of Gryphon Group Security Solutions and one of the best and most widely recognized driving instructors in the world. He has appeared on the Discovery Channel and The Learning Channel while training corporate and military bodyguards and law enforcement officers in advanced driving and security skills. Mr. Skelly holds Instructor Certifications through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the International Association of Professional Law Enforcement Emergency Response Trainers, the Department of Defense, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, General Motors, Ford and the ATV Safety Institute, to name but a few. He is a certified Emergency Vehicle Operator Course Instructor with 20 years experience with the County Sheriff's Office as the Driver Training Instructor Supervisor. Mr. Skelly ensures quality and continuity, develops curriculums, and conducts training courses in all aspects of emergency vehicle operations to include: Tactical Police Driving, Collision Avoidance, Pursuit Conditions, Police Motorcycle Operations, 4x4 Off Road/Hummer Driving, Dignitary Protection/Escorts and Police Recruit Driving Training.

Vice President, Administration
Pamela Lande

Pamela Lande is the Vice President of Administration and manages all administrative and logistical aspects of Gryphon Group Security Solutions global operations. Ms. Lande comes to GGSS with over 10 years of crisis management and customer service experience. She is also responsible for coordinating and supporting our Mobile Training Teams worldwide. In coordination with the rest of our staff, Ms. Lande maintains communication with our current and prospective clients to assure that our client's questions are being answered and their training needs are being met.

Vice President, Operations
Brandon Salazar

Brandon Salazar is the Vice President of Operations and served in the United States Marine Corps as an Amphibious Reconnaissance Marine. He has conducted intelligence operations extensively in Central and South America including West and South Africa. Mr. Salazar has previously been assigned to provide personal protection for COMMARFORSOUTH and presidential dignitaries in high threat areas of Latin America. Some of his other duties while at 2nd Recon Bat. included being a platoon marksmanship instructor for Nato small arms. He is also licensed to operate most Soviet block military vehicles ranging from tanks to troop carriers. He has been a martial arts instructor for over 14 years. Mr. Salazar has trained hundreds of U.S. Army Special Forces, Navy Seals and Marines in Advanced Special Operations Tactics.

Vice President, Training and Development
Juan Ayala

Juan Ayala is the Vice President of Training and Development and has over 21 years in Special Operations, force protection, surveillance operations and counter surveillance details, urban combat as well as advanced weapons and tactics. He served in the United States Army Rangers and the U.S. Army Special Forces. Mr. Ayala has worldwide operational experience in unconventional warfare planning and execution. In addition to his many accomplishments Mr. Ayala served as the Director of Training at the Special Forces Officers Qualification Course at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.


Director of Federal Programs

C.W. Ogburn
C.W. Ogburn served with the Central Intelligence Agency and has over 24 years of field experience in intelligence operations directed at terrorism and narcotics. He served 16 years in an overseas environment with the responsibilities of training foreign military, police and civilian agencies. During this time his primary focus was program development and implementation with direct managerial duties and responsibilities. Mr. Ogburn has also served in the field of community corrections as a case manager and pretrial investigator. In this capacity, Mr. Ogburn was liaison with various law enforcement agencies. He dealt especially with adjudicated youth offenders and eventually served as mentor and counselor to at risk youth. C.W. has provided consulting services in the field of crisis management to private agencies, individuals and firms nationwide as well as internationally. He specializes in threat assessment, investigations, organizational structure and media relations. His experience in terrorism has led to his providing specialized and technical training in operational security.
Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer
Geoffrey P. Alpert
Geoffrey P. Alpert conducts our seminars on "The Pursuit Decision", a program he designed at the request of Gryphon Group Security Solutions to reduce law enforcement line-of-duty fatalities resulting from police vehicle pursuits. Mr. Alpert is the Director of Research for the College of Criminal Justice at the University of South Carolina. For the past twenty years Dr. Alpert has concentrated his research and training on the evaluation of high-risk police activities, including emergency and pursuit driving. His most recent book is "Pursuit Driving: What We Know", published by the Police Executive Research Forum.
Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer
Frank McBee

Frank McBee is the former Vice President of the Florida SWAT Association and served over ten years as the Training Coordinator of the Southeast United States for the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors. Mr. McBee has been a Law Enforcement professional for over 17 years, including 12 years as an Emergency Response Team member. As a Firearms Instructor, he has traveled and trained extensively in the United States and Europe, training elite civilian and military units in firearms and small unit tactics. Frank has served as an Adjunct Instructor for HK Inc., Olympic Arms and Offshoots Training Institute. He specializes in small arm tactics for squad deployment such as hostage rescue, vehicle/vessel assaults and counter force initiatives.

Theodore W. Baker, Sr.
Theodore W. Baker, Sr. has been a certified law enforcement officer since 1983 with 15 years training experience. He is a current CJST Instructor in General Subjects to include Patrol Procedures, Building Entry, Area Search, High-Risk Tactical Situations and Vehicle Operations. Mr. Baker is an instructor-trainer for Human Diversity, Defensive Tactics, Firearms, Vehicle Operations, Electronic Restraints and Tactical Handcuffing. He has 20 years experience in off-road vehicle operations to include developing off-road vehicle operations lesson plans. Mr. Baker is a member of IALEFI and ASLET.

Joe Cardenas
Mr. Cardenas has over 24 years experience teaching DoD High Risk of Capture personnel as an Air Force Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) Instructor. In the SERE career field he taught all aspects of Global SERE training, became a Master Instructor Trainer, Instructor Trainer, and Training Manager. He served as a Staff Officer at Head Quarters Air Combat Command and was the Program Manager re-instituting Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) Exercises into Red Flag War Games after a 6 year absence, fully integrating air craft, special operations ground forces and survivors making the most successful on-going exercise of its kind. He spent 12 years as a Test Parachutist, was the Superintendent for the Air Force's only Test Parachutist Program, and had oversight of multi-million dollar test programs from certifying jump platforms, for the C-17 and the C-130J, to testing new aircrew equipment. Mr. Cardenas was also the Senior Instructor, and Examiner for the Air Force Test Parachutist School. He twice trekked from Death Valley to Mount Whitney-lowest to highest points in the Continental United States. The first time done self-sufficient back packing 100 lbs (10 days with one other person), and the second time in 5 days (as team leader of 4) holding unofficial cross country speed record. Mr. Cardenas has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from The University of Phoenix.

Glenn Garceau
Glenn Garceau has been a police officer since 1981 and has been an Instructor at the Law Enforcement Academy for several years. He has been an instructor with Gryphon Group for 3 years and is responsible for maintaining a vast array of weapons and training equipment needed to support Gryphon's global operations. Mr. Garceau is currently a Corporal with a 150-man Police Department. His background consists of Traffic Crash Investigations and Traffic Reconstruction. His off-duty attributes currently include Pro-Kart Racing and Dirt Sprint Car Racing and Motor Cross Racing. Mr. Garceau's other areas of training include Street Survival, and DUI Enforcement. He is currently a member of his department's Underwater Recovery Team and has extensive knowledge of police underwater tactics.
Instructor
Mike Manning

Mike Manning served in the United States Marine Corps for over 10 years including 3 years as a Force Reconnaissance Direct Action Platoon Team member and assistant team leader. Mr. Manning has extensive operational experience with the Marine Expeditionary Unites Maritime Special Purpose Force in South West Asia, Persian Gulf and East Timor Indonesia. He also served in the Marine Corps in the Combat Infantry and Military Police fields. Mr. Manning is a US Army trained Parachute Rigger and Jumpmaster. After leaving the Marine Corps, Mr. Manning served as a police officer in the State of Connecticut with over 5 years experience in a 300-man department as a patrolman and plain clothes Anti-Crime Team member. He has in-depth operational experience conducting surveillance, investigations, and arrest operations in high crime urban environments.

Instructor
Richard Ramsey

Richard Ramsey served eleven years in the United States Army. Mr. Ramsey was a technician and senior technician for a twelve-man tactical nuclear weapons fire team. As senior technician, he was responsible for the transportation, security and detonation of tactical nuclear weapons. Mr. Ramsey also tested new conventional explosives for practicality of use by the United States Army. In addition, he served as a military police officer and served as a squad leader, a patrol supervisor, and as point man on the Special Reaction Team for the 2 nd Infantry Division in Camp Casey, Korea. While assigned to Ft. Hood, Mr. Ramsey deployed with the military police to Panama in support of Operation Promote Liberty. He was also assigned to the 89 th Military Police Brigade III Corps and Ft. Hood’s Special Reaction Team. Some of Mr. Ramsey’s duties included Entry Team Leader, Sniper, Hostage Negotiator, Traffic Enforcement Section Assistant NCOIC, Special Reaction Team NCOIC and Lead Instructor for Ft. Hood’s Military Police Academy. As a Special Reaction Team NCOIC, his duties included the personal security of all visiting dignitaries and VIP’s.

Christian Van Zandt, Sr.

Christian Van Zandt, Sr., began his law enforcement career in 1992 and is currently the Training Officer for a 150-officer agency in Central Florida. He holds additional responsibilities as a Counter-Sniper on the Special Weapons and Tactics team, and serves as a member of the agency's Firearms Training Unit and Honor Guard. Mr. Van Zandt presently holds instructor certificates and trains in Firearms, Emergency Vehicle Operations, M26 Advanced Taser and All-Terrain Vehicles. He is a former Field Training Officer, Defensive Tactics Instructor and Dive/Recovery Team member. Van Zandt receives extensive, on-going training in firearms, defensive tactics, and tactical operations. During his 14 years in the United States Marine Corps Mr. Van Zandt attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and received extensive training and experience in tractor-trailer operations, off-road vehicle operations, explosives transportation and vehicle recovery techniques. Following his military service Mr. Van Zandt worked as a Heavy Duty Recovery specialist in the civilian sector for 18 months in the Midwest. In this environment he daily employed many of the recovery skills he learned and mastered in the Marine Corps.

Operations Specialist
Elliot Coon

Elliot Coon serves as a Gryphon Group Security Solutions Operations Specialist. Mr. Coon was a combat infantryman in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1996-1999. His operational experience includes evacuating civilians out of Sierra Leone in 1998. Mr. Coon is a graduate of the USMC Mountain Warfare School in Bridgeport, CA. After the Marine Corps, he continued his education as a commercial diver and graduated from the College of Oceaneering in Wilmington, CA. Mr. Coon has over 400 working dives from minor underwater construction to bridge inspection on the skyway bridge.

Operations Specialist
Frank Dicolandrea

Frank Dicolandrea serves as a Gryphon Group Security Solutions Operations Specialist. Mr. Dicolandrea served in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1989-1994, where he has been deployed to the Middle East for Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He also has extensive experience in most of Southeast Asia and the Micronesian Islands. Mr. Dicolandrea also deployed to Homestead Florida for Hurricane Andrew Relief and to the Philippines to assist in the cleanup from the Mt. Pinitumo eruption. During his tour, he qualified on all battalion issued weapons: M-16, .45, MK19, AT-4 .50 cal, and M-60. After his service in the Navy, Mr. Dicolandrea worked as a certified auto technician for Nissan. Mr. Dicolandrea also has also completed EMT school and firefighter school with Florida state certification.

Operations Specialist
Robert Fishe

Robert Fishe serves as a Gryphon Group Security Solutions Operations Specialist. He served in the United States Army as a Tow Missile Gunner for 4 years. During his tour, he received combat lifesavers training and earned the expert infantryman’s badge. Shortly after starting a career in law enforcement, Mr. Fishe was reactivated by the Army in 1991 for the first Persian Gulf War. After serving in Desert Storm, he continued his career in law enforcement, serving as a corrections officer and later as a deputy sheriff for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department in Washington State. Several of Mr. Fishe’s police pursuits have been televised popular television show “Cops”.

Operations Specialist
Michael Spearing

Michael Spearing has over 24 years of Special Operations experience with the United States Army Special Forces. Mr. Spearing served with both the 5th Special Forces Group Airborne and the 1st Special Forces Group Airborne. He primarily served as senior medical advisor on operational A teams specializing in mountain, strategic reconnaissance and scout swim team operations. Mr. Spearing has served extensively throughout Southeast Asia and the Middle East. He also served as 1st SGT of the 95th Combat Support Hospital in Heidelberg Germany and as Medical Platoon SGT for the 64th Armored Battalion 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart Georgia. Mr. Spearing has a B.A. in Business Administration from Florida Metropolitan University. He also is a member and the 1st Vice President of the Alpha Beta Kappa (ABK) honor society at Florida Metropolitan University.

Administrative Assistant
Donna Manning

Donna Manning is an administrative assistant at Gryphon Group Security Solutions and helps to coordinate administrative and logistical aspects of Gryphon's operations. Mrs. Manning comes to GGSS with over 15 years of administrative and financial management experience, as well as facilitating educational training for the US Marine Corps. Mrs. Manning is responsible for supporting staff and client needs to ensure all training expectations are exceeded.
